Unfamiliar Possibilities
Have you ever felt stuck—like life has become predictable, familiar, and a little stagnant? Many women in midlife quietly feel this way, but they assume it’s “just the season.” It’s not.
Recently, a phrase stopped me in my tracks: “unfamiliar possibilities.”
And immediately, Isaiah 43 came to mind:
“Behold, I am doing a new thing… shall you not know it?”
Scripture and neuroscience tell the same story:
When you step into something new, even something small, your brain forms new neural pathways. That means more hope, more resilience, more clarity, and a stronger, healthier mind.
Research shows:
Trying something new can improve cognitive resilience by up to 30%
Embracing new experiences can reduce anxiety by up to 40%
New patterns and new habits literally make your brain younger
But here’s what matters most: God meets you in the unfamiliar.
Not in the place you’ve always stayed, but in the place you’re willing to go.
If you’ve stopped dreaming, hoping, or believing for more—today is your nudge. Start small. Write down ten new possibilities you sense God inviting you into.
Your new thing may feel unfamiliar, but it’s strengthening you in every way—body, soul, and spirit.
